Jackie Robinson Foundation

Product Description

The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) is a public, not-for-profit national organization founded
by Rachel Robinson in 1973 as a vehicle to perpetuate the memory of Jackie Robinson and his
achievements. Serving as an advocate for young people with the greatest need, the Foundation
assists increasing numbers of minority youths through the granting of four-year scholarships for
higher education.
Eight years before Brown vs. the Board of Education, Dodger GM Branch Rickey signed Jackie
Robinson to a Brooklyn Dodgers contract breaking the color barrier in baseball. MLB
Commissioner Bud Selig described this event in 1947 as "clearly one of the most powerful
moments in 20th century American history. "
Sixty years later, the world paused to remember Jackie 's remarkable courage as we paid tribute
to his sacrifice and honor his continuing legacy. Each of the 15 games throughout Major
League Baseball on April 15, 2007 held events to honor Jackie Robinson.
